Tom Connor, Executive Managing Director of Amherst Pierpont, has spent his full career in the financial services industry with a focus on trading fixed income products. Prior to co-founding predecessor firm Pierpont Securities, Tom founded a proprietary trading company that transacted in exchange-traded futures contracts across rates, equities, currencies and commodities.
Immediately prior, Tom worked for Mark Werner at Bank of America, heading the Global Liquid Products Business (rates, foreign exchange, commodities, public finance, emerging markets and money markets). In this role he was responsible for more than 1,000 people in 13 locations.
Tom spent the 20 years prior at J.P. Morgan & Co. ultimately heading a similar Global Liquid Products business and serving as the head trader for the U.S. government trading desk.
During his career, Tom served as chairman of the Government Division of the Bond Market Association (BMA) prior to its merger with SIFMA. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the BMA’s Primary Dealers Division.
Tom graduated from Hobart College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
