Mark Werner, Executive Chairman and co-founder of Amherst Pierpont Securities, has spent more than 30 years in the financial services industry. Mark was the CEO of predecessor firm Pierpont Securities LLC.
He previously served as CEO of Banc of America Securities at the Bank of America Corporation where he was Head of Global Markets and responsible for the debt and equity businesses, including origination, sales, trading, and research. He began his career at JP Morgan Securities, Inc. where he ultimately served as Vice Chairman and head of the North American interest rate markets, futures, and options business. He was also a member of the investment bank’s Executive Committee.
Mark is a past chairman of the U.S. Treasury’s Borrowing Advisory Committee, a Federal Advisory Committee that meets with the Secretary of the Treasury as well as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board and their staffs to advise them on the management of the federal debt.
Throughout his career, Mark has been involved with industry boards and interest groups working on common issues among member financial services organizations. He is a past board member of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). He is also a past division chairman of the Bond Market Association and served as a director for both BrokerTec and TradeWeb.
Mark graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Economics. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.
